What to expect?

Volunteering at WERLA can include:

  • Cleaning! (sometimes lots of fluids and strong smells)
  • Preparing food (including carnivorous diets)
  • Feeding delicate babies with bottle and syringe. Spring is our biggest season and we see as many as 200 infants!
  • Assisting with medical treatments on animals of all shapes and sizes
  • Raking, shoveling, and physical work outdoors
  • Attending festivals and educating the public
  • Answering phone calls for wildlife advocacy and arranging transport for rehabilitation situations.
  • Many of the animals’ days begin early, and ours do too! Volunteers arrive at 9am and leave at various times based on animals’ needs and staffing.

WERLA volunteers gain the rewarding experience of rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing our native wildlife. WERLA is happy to welcome anyone excited to lend a helping hand. Those who join our team are asked to volunteer one day per week. Opportunities to attend educational events and plan fundraisers are also available. Send us an email at werlainc@gmail.com with your attached volunteer application. Thank you for caring!
